Week #13 3/25/12-4/1/12

The capital of Texas is Austin.

Most people might guess Houston, Dallas, or even San Antonio, but it's Austin. Austin was founded on the banks of the Colorado River. It started as a settlement called Waterloo. It was later named for frontiersman Stephen F. Austin.

Physical: 15 sit-ups everyday.

Personal: I have to make a rub of a tombstone that is more than 100 years old.
Result: I went to Federal Point Cemetary which is located off of Dow Road in Kure Beach. They have a newer grave yard that sits besides a Civil War era grave yard. I did a grave rub of a 5 year old boy named Johnny. He lived from 1860-1865, which meant he lived and died soley in the Civil War era.

Personal: I have to buy someone flowers.

Result: I bought my dear sweet grandmother flowers. She got them on Friday and was so happy. It felt good to make her day.

Week #11 3/11/12-3/18/12

The capital of California is Sacramento.

Though California has many big cities, centrally located Sacramento is the capital. It was founded at the junction point of the Sacramento and American Rivers. The "California Gold Rush" played a major part in the population of this city.

Physical: 25 sit-ups each day

Persoanl: I have to visit a museum.

Result: Once again, I was able to "break the rules" cause I make the rules. I visited the Cameron Art Museum on Sunday, but it was closed. They do have art outside, so it will just have to count. I am currently coaching baseball, so I couldn't make it during the week. I was actually going to take a half day Friday and go, but I had to tutor one of my baseball players during his lunch. I was also going to visit the Ft. Fisher Civil War Museum, but it is closed on Sundays outside of the Memorial Day to Labor Day window.

Week #10 3/4/12-3/11/12

The capital of Ohio is Columbus

Columbus is the largest city in Ohio. It was named for Christopher Columbus.

Physical: 25 Swims each day

Personal: I have to go by myself to the movies. This will interesting, as I love going to the movies, but by myself is kinda "loserish."

Result: I went and caught the Sunday matinee of "Project X"...BY MYSELF!!! The experience wasn't too bad. I admit it was a little nerve racking walking in by myself, purchasing popcorn by myself, and going to sit by myself. Once the lights went out and the movie started, it was no big deal at all. The movie was pretty good, but it still gets my "rent it before you buy it" rating. I think this challenge helped me learn a little better, that the world's people aren't constantly staring at you.
